Baileys The Army Store has been trading for over 45 years and throughout that time our products have changed greatly and have moved with the times in fashion and technology, this is true of both outdoor clothing and equipment and also the military ranges of which we have always supplied a variety of Army Surplus.
Army Surplus can come in many forms with clothing or equipment & accessories which is ex military and surplus to their requirements which is then released and sold off to companies such as ourselves. This type of stock can come to us as new surplus or second hand which is reflected in the prices, generally any new items if available demanding a higher price, however if you don`t mind second hand items then there is generally a bargain to be had.
The second hand clothing imparticular is the main focus of our ex military gear. We usually try to stock items which are classed as Grade 1 which should mean a good quality although it has been used, obviously the further down the scale you go, e.g grade 2 & 3 the poorer you get, so best to stay away. Grade 1 comes just below the new surplus and can be suprisingly good. We stock grade 1 british army assault boots, soldier 95 camouflage shirts & trousers dpm woodland and when available in the desert pattern too, we also have british army goretex bivvi bags and bashas and although used they are still up to scratch. More recently and throughout the winter time we have had instock some Lined parkas which people love, this year particularly the Czech and Dutch versions which are great for keeping warm, specifically the Dutch version as it is identical (apart from the flag) to the now seemingly unavailable old german parka which was highly sort after. Summer time approaching and we`ll being moving away form the lined parkas and heavy Austrian M65 jackets to the lighter style second hand army surplus jackets which are becoming available, usually the French and Italian styles which are slightly shorter jackets perfect for the warmer weather.
All in all the second hand gear is great value and still has a lot of life left in them after their military service has ended and yes there may be the odd hole or bit of dirt, but thats part of the charm and lets face it, it`s already broken in and softened up for us to wear whether we`re outdoors hunting, fishing, working, paintball & airsofting or just for casual, who can resist a bargain with a bit of grit from a well established background.
